Thoughts and Prayers...

On a Monday after 2 deadly plane crashes in which 6 men lost their lives, it makes one reflect on our own lives and how quickly it can be taken. It also makes me think of Dr. Veteto and how suddenly I man I admired and respected was also recently taken in a plane crash. I pray for these 6 families and that they find peace from this tragedy and that God will embrace them. Love your family today...

Lost Loved Ones to Diabetes?

This is a great way to honor your loved one if you have lost them to diabetes. It is so neat to have a way to give back to the cause/research while keeping their memory alive. http://ping.fm/CYdJV

Happy July 4th!

I hope you each had a chance to thank a veteran, past or present, for our freedom today. I hope you also had a chance to thank Jesus Christ, for our eternal freedom as that was also a price paid for us! I know I had such a blessed holiday with my family and friends and I hope you each did as well.

Little Giants Foundation

What an AWESOME, rewarding and hot day! A sincere thank you to everyone who came out today to help support the Little Giants Foundation. I was touched by so many and I was able to win many silent auction items (shhh) in order to also help find a cure for these angles who were like Mitchell. Just like his dad told me, he touched lives everywhere. You can still donate, just ask me how. Thank you to channel 8 for coming out as well as all the donations from various companies all around town! You are truly are blessing to this foundation.

A thought for you...

If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or fight like hell. ~Lance Armstrong

Just for Now..

Hello to all my facebook friends, sponsors and family! Although the past couple of weeks have been very emotional and difficult to say the least, I have not been avoiding anyone, but simply trying to continue doing what I have forever loved to do…help others.

I have had the opportunity to do so many things recently that have made such an impact on my life, that it’s put all the important things back into prospective for me. Thank you to those who allowed me to be a part of the important things in YOUR lives.

As for my passion and platform...Nothing could stop me now! I’m more determined than ever to make the diabetes doggie a reality, continue raising funds for Tori’s Team and JDRF, and most importantly, my family.

As most of you already know, I made a very heart wrenching decision to resign my title of Mrs. Oklahoma International, and forward it onto Heidi Ducato, first runner up 2010, and I am sure she will represent Oklahoma proudly and I wish her the very best. I will continue my title as Mrs. Tulsa International 2010 and by no means will a title change impact what I am doing for and in my community.

I know so many have asked, and it has really been difficult to talk about for the past couple weeks, but with time and prayer, I know that God has bigger and better plans for my future. For all those who just want to know, “Why?” Well, the only thing I really feel at liberty to say is that with a true heart for what you believe in and determination to stay true to yourself and all those who support and care for you, you have to do what is right. Those who know me know I am not a quitter and I give everything I do my all. I wish I could express how much gratitude I have for each and every friend, family and supporter that I have had for the past 6 months, even before the crown was awarded to me. I am so grateful to everyone and am blessed to have had so many positive notes and messages since I have had to make this decision. My work will go on and for those who know me well, I believe you work hard, your earn it. I did that and am so proud of myself. Thank you for all your love and respect.

Zebco's Fishing Day!

For the 33rd year in a row, Tulsa-based Zebco - arguably the most famous brand in fishing - will stock 10,000 fish in LaFortune, Mohawk and Jenks' Veterans ponds. And this Saturday, any Tulsan who so desires can show up at these ponds and fish to their heart's content. It's all part of Zebco's Take Me Fishing Day.

The kicker? No fishing license is required. No, really. Plus, the fish are tagged and, when they're caught, they can be redeemed for prizes.

If you're like me and you love to fish, be sure to put this event on your calendar for this Saturday, June 5 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Happy Memorial Day!

We had a cookout to celebrate and honor those on Memorial Day. We even grilled Hannah's TURKEY! It was fantastic and friends and family were there to share in the experience as well. I couldn't help but think of all those who have lost loved ones in various ways. I think of my grandpa who has been gone almost 3 years. You are loved and missed papa.

Have a blessed day with loved ones...

MomRN Radio Show..

Well, I was invited to to be a guest on the MomRN radio show live! Wow. That was a very cool experience and Lauri said I even talked slow. It again was live so I had no choice as no one was going to stop and ask me to repeat myself!

It was so neat to be able to spread my message to everyone who was listening and I hope if I only reached one person who will be more aware of the signs and symptoms, then it was worth it.

Judging the Sand Springs Talent Show!

I was honored to be asked to be a 'celebrity' judge at the Sand Springs Talent Show. What? I'm sorry? A CELEBRITY judge? I am not getting the celebrity part....but they thought so and what a blast I had! Some amazing children who worked very hard and it was very hard to just pick one! Good thing I am NOT on American Idol.

From the heart of a child...(I found this and had to share)

My daughter is 6 and has had a challenge dealing with a bullying problem at school. She has been as brave as a lion and very forgiving.

Give Me Your Love

When I look at you, you have a really big smile
But I don't.
You are pretty,
But I'm not.
Some of these people are friends
And that is friendship
But I know that other people are not kind and helpful.
They are bullies and I do not like it.
I have got an empty place in my heart.
I wish they were nice to me.
They have said sorry and are my friends now.
We like each other.

Hannah and her Turkey!

Well, as most of you may know, my husband has a nationwide hunting show on the outdoor channel. He took Hannah hunting for 3 days (yep just Jax and I at home) and guess what?! She killed her first turkey. I am pretty sure Tim was ALMOST as proud then as he was the moment she was born. He said 'it's a dad thing babe' so I guess I will just take his word for it. Great job Hannah!

A new baby girl!

My very dear friend, whom we have not missed many big events in each other's lives since the 8th grade, had to miss my state pageant. But, for a very good reason. She was having a BABY! Her 2nd beautiful baby girl, Carter was born March 2nd. I love you Jen and missed you at the pageant but you were in my thoughts and prayers and I know you were in spirit!

Welcome Carter!

Sleep?

I have always been taught we each need our "beauty sleep" because our brains, body and soul need to have a chance to recoup from the day before" so I am wondering when after my amazing night, will I actually start to sleep? Well worth it..

Go Red Casting Call at Macy's!

The Go Red Casting Call at Macys was an amazing event to find the next spokeswoman for the campaign. It was an 2 hour event where women came to Macys and told their stories of survival and how they have beaten heart disease. It was powerful and touching at the same time. These women have fought hard battles and won!

It was an honor to be a part of this event! Thank you to Macys!

Go Red Day at the Capital!

What an amazing day at the capital! I knew I belonged in the Senate and now it has been confirmed! It was very neat to be a part of such an important part of the International system as well as a part of my life, and that is Women's Heart Disease. OK is 50th in the nation for women's heart disease. We need to create a sense of urgency to change these stats!

It was an amazing day and I can not wait to be a part many more amazing things to come!

Iceskating for Fun!

Well, even in Tulsa we can ice skate, and the cold temps made it that much more fun actually! The BOK had their winter wonderland and the people were out in full force, but how much full to watch all the kiddos (and adults) on their ice skates (and bottoms often), all while listening to great music! It was a very neat event so I hope you each had an opportunity to get out and enjoy this great family opportunity!
